X-mas Break; TIME TO RAGE.

In celebration of me finishing my finals today, I give you new music!!  So last month, I got to see Canadian dubstep duo Zeds Dead live at the Ogden Theater in Denver, and it was insanely epic.  This is a new track of theirs, which they dropped at the show.  I’m pretty hooked on this one it’s so good!
The next track is Le Castle Vania’s new remix of Kakade’s “Turn it Down”.  It really kicks, so turn up the bass!  Enjoy!

The Music and Me: "WOAAHH sometimes I get a good feelin’”

Swedish house producer Avicii released the music video last week for the immensely popular house anthem, Levels.  This track is one of my all time favorites.  Just listen!  Oh and the video is completely ridiculous by the way but really funny.

Have you ever heard a song that gives you chills?  I’m talking make you quiver, make the hair on your arms and on the back of your neck stand up, kind of chills.

That’s what it feels like to me when I hear a perfectly constructed piece of electronic dance music.  What can I say? I’m in love with the stuff.  There is nothing quite like the music that modern producers are creating these days.  It’s for that precise reason why this music scene has exploded in the past few years.

For example, the immensely popular EDM music festival massive, The Electric Daisy Carnival relocated this year from Los Angeles, its home of the past 14 years, to Las Vegas.  The festival also expanded to three days instead of two.  EDC 2010 in Los Angeles hosted 185,000 attendees over a two day weekend.  EDC 2012 in Las Vegas hosted more than 230,000 party goers (including myself!)
I took this picture from a Ferris wheel overlooking the main stage (Kinetic Field) during Tiesto's set at EDC Vegas 2011.

What I love about EDM is the diversity of the genre.  I’m never bored because there’s always something different and new that I’ve never heard.  Every song is a unique experience.

The truth is there is something extremely special and unique about this scene.  The music has so much energy and is so complex.  It’s a global scene that unites its fans and promotes unity and enjoying life while we can.  At EDC I felt like I was surrounded with friends and family.  The vibe that this music creates is so amazing and I love that I’m living in this day and age to experience it.

Here are just a few of some of my favorite tracks, turn it up and partayy!

Calvin Harris - Feel so Close (Original Mix)

Villains & Trowa - Nexodus

Wolfgang Gartner - Space Junk (Original Mix)

November Preview pt. 1

I’ve decided to add another segment to the blog.  This one will be a monthly look at what notable EDM shows are coming to the SLC metro area.
If you dig the music, check out a show.  Don’t limit your taste; you might be surprised by what you find.
November may bring on the cold weather but this November is bringing the heat, as far as DJ/producers coming to our area.
·         November 12th:               NightSneak Utah presents AC Slater
ss
AC Slater is an electro house producer/DJ from West Virginia.  On his Facebook he describes his style as “Heavy bass music”.  Oh and it is.  His new release, Big Brooklyn Bass is receiving great reviews and for good reason.  Check him out!

·         November  18th:              OAM Entertainment presents Gabriel & Dresden live
a
I am REALLY excited about this show yet depressed because I can’t go… Immensely popular and award winning Producer/DJs Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden will be throwin down in Park City.  OAM Entertainment is relatively new from what I can gather but I give them MAJOR brownie points for getting G&D.  This is their set from Nocturnal Wonderland 2011.  It’s flawless and so diverse; it has something for everyone.  Click the link below to hear and download the set.

·         November 19th:               EPIKvibe Productions presents  Funked: with Crizzly and DallasK

I am a big Crizzly and DallasK fan and….. I won’t be able to go to this show either (sad face).  BUT you should go because this show is going to be a partyyyy.   Crizzly’s style/genre is called “crunkstep” (ridiculous name, I know) but something about his music makes you wanna dance.

DallasK is an up-and-coming electro house artist and all I can say is expect big things from this 20-year-old Floridan.  His set is sure to be amazing and full of energy.  I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOW.  It’s 18+ which makes it even better.

Can I Get Some Noise!?

I basically love every single mix, song and remix done by Canadian dubstep duo Zeds Dead.  Their style is so unique!  I'm going to Denver in two weeks to see them spin live!  I cannot wait.

This track was released a couple months ago.  It's got a great catchy melody, with great vocals (Sabi) and a gnarly drop.  Another fire remix for sure!!

I'm really stoked about this next track!
Les Strobelights is a brand new electro artist from Kiel, Germany and I'm really diggin his music.  I'm excited to share this new release with you all!  Expect to hear this dropped in clubs in LA and Vegas.  It's fuego people.

Working on it...

Ok... I'm a noob with using all this media, I still working on posting a music player which sometimes will also be a link for a direct download for each song.  But until then, I'm going to be posting music using youtube so you can actually hear the music..

I realize for many of my classmates this whole music scene is very new and foreign, but I'll do what I can to inform you, but honestly the best way is to hear the music.  So here is the other track I wanted to post for you yesterday. Datsik posted this collaboration with Bassnectar on his Facebook on Saturday.  It's FUEGO heavy on the bass side and I wouldn't expect anything less.  Enjoy kids!

Monday

I will be posting new music every Monday as a part of this blogs format which I'm still coming up with. The idea is to develop the blog more as time goes on and, for lack of better words, just let it happen. Also, I'd like some help in naming my weekly Monday post: Monday Funday, Musick Monday. I'm having trouble.. What are your suggestions??

As promised, today I have a couple new tracks for you all. Inaugural tracks if you will.
Kaskade's new album "Fire and Ice" dropped today on iTunes. I would highly recommend picking it up. The track I'm sharing with you all "Lick it" features popular dubstep producer Skrillex. The track starts out pretty house-y and then BAM we have a dirty disco party!! Enjoy kids!

Rhythm n' Chaos

I've actually been meaning to start a blog anyways, and thanks to Dr. Kim, my Media Writing professor, I had no choice.  So, I'm going to take this opportunity to share with you all some really epic music.

I'm sure most of you have heard of "techno", and it doesn't mean much to you.   With this blog I will be sharing the music many of you refer to as "techno" and breaking it down and hopefully changing whatever perceptions you may have of it.  So first, this is NOT a techno blog...  The music formally characterized as techno ceases to exist.  Rather, there is EDM (electronic dance music) which is a massive genre that encompasses every other sub-genre influenced by electronically produced music.  The sub genres are numerous and diverse in nature, we have: house, electro, Dutch house, drum n’ bass, progressive house, dubstep, electro house, glitch and many many more.

The purpose of this blog is to share the music and bring it to a wider audience.  I’m going to designate days on which I’ll post new music and features.

To kick off I’ll be posting a few sick tracks later today or this evening.
